Team Delivers Highly-Regulated Technical Training in 17+ Languages – On Time and In Budget

Overview

As a Senior Project Manager of Global Training Development for a $4 billion multinational healthcare company, Lindsay led a multi-year project focused on the development of a global technical training program for a new, highly complex, blood analyzer system.

Challenge

Lindsay’s project team faced multiple challenges while developing the new training programs for this intricate system:
  • Estimate project costs to completion for a new system with very limited historical data.
  • Meet key program milestones for compliance/regulatory reviews, product trials, and product launch, while working on content that was still in research and development status.
  • Redesign traditional training strategies to produce a best-in-class program to meet the needs of global customers.
Throughout the project, Lindsay faced multiple budget reductions as well as constantly evolving timelines. Customers, both internal and external, sought new and innovative training strategy that had not previously been used for other systems. Customers wanted training that would eliminate to need to travel off-site and enable them to be trained on their own equipment.

Solution

As Project Manager, Lindsay coupled her 10 years of experience along with standards outlined by the Project Management Institute (PMI) to define, execute and implement this project.
In order to meet project objectives, Lindsay developed, maintained, and managed an intricate project management plan. Working with colleagues in China, Japan, France, and Latin America, she headed cross-functional team communications as well as worked with internal and external subject matter experts. She was responsible for providing project updates organization-wide.
Lindsay was responsible for ensuring all training goals were met in order to release the product on time. In preparation for required FDA and other regulatory body submissions, internal milestones were established to ensure pilot training manuals and materials were completed while external evaluation risks were also assessed. As contingent processes, failure to meet set objectives would impact and delay the overall project.
Lindsay maintained a budget of $1.8 million which was a subset of a larger program budget. She submitted capital appropriation requests to obtain and maintain budget. Partnering with the finance department, Lindsay forecasted and managed costs for various vendors which included instructional design, localization, 3D modeling, and videography. Additionally, Lindsay allocated finances across different vendors and ensured constant monetary regulation.

Impact

The global training solution met product launch requirements; delivered on-time, within budget, met necessary compliance milestones; and available in 18+ localized languages.

Lindsay is a dedicated and knowledgeable manager whom I worked with on several government sales training initiatives at AT&T. I found her to be enthusiastic, positive, and detail-oriented. She attacked the projects with a willingness to do whatever it took to understand the subject matter, goals of the business, and the customers’ needs. We met our objective and created the very first formalized government contract training for wireless sales professionals at Cingular. I recommend Lindsay.
